For 500 Children and their families, Christmas may have come a week early.Citygate Church collected, assembled, and gave away over 500 bikes and toys on this Sunday morning before Christmas. Pastors Eric and Kim Petree of Citygate Church say this distribution captures the true spirit of the season.“The joy in their eyes said it all, and just knowing that they’re going home knowing they are loved, somebody is caring for them, thinking of them has been such a blessing.” the co-pastors said.The appreciation from the families was heartwarming, filled with overwhelming “thank-yous.” The joy in children’s eyes beamed sincerely with the magic of the giving spirit. Pastor Eric Petree says the event is life-changing for both those who give and receive.“When people come together, they can change lives. Through a bicycle through a toy give away it’s amazing if we get over the division and we come together and say we are united to be a blessing to those who need a blessing,” Petree said. For months, community partners and volunteers collected and assembled hundreds of toys and bikes during this season of giving to share with many who might not have known the joy of this Christmas.Blake Mason says Citygate’s motivation was inspired.“When our pastor Eric and Kim Petree put the vision out there, it is just amazing to think that our congregation got behind it,” Mason said. Toys were distributed at both the Lebanon campus as well as in Forest Park. It’s a blessing Citygate worshipers like Taisia Moorman say knows no bounds.“Today, I’m reminded that I play a small role in a much bigger story for everyone else. We don’t live our lives individually, we live our lives connected to each other,” Moorman said.
