With the NFL draft being a little less than two weeks away, if there’s one team that isn’t panicking about anything draft related, it’s the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals free-agency haul and their ability to bring back some of their own has the team in a great sport to where they don’t have to reach for any one position. On Friday, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor checked in with Ohio State’s football head coach Ryan Day. Taylor, who spoke at the Ohio State coaches clinic says he has a relationship with Day and that he certainly respects the Ohio State football program in Columbus. The Cincinnati Bengals currently have four players that finished their college career with the Buckeyes, including offensive tackle Isaiah Prince, defensive end Sam Hubbard, cornerback Eli Apple and safety Vonn Bell, as well as quarterback Joe Burrow, who transferred to LSU after three seasons in Columbus. Soon, Taylor will begin the task of trying to keep the ball rolling with the Bengals and set the tablet for another big run in the playoffs. “Right now we’re in the draft phase, so it’s about acquiring the talent and then preparing for players to come up in a couple weeks so you’re certainly thinking about your messaging and team meetings and how we’re going to start over,” said Taylor about the upcoming draft. Taylor then added, “you know, really it’s, we’re going to draw from the things we experienced last three years, not just this year, the last three years. The lessons we learned and then continue to build on that with a new group this May.”The 2022 NFL draft will be held from April 28-30 and the Cincinnati Bengals will have eight selections with at least one pick in each round. The Bengals, who had a historical run last season by making it to the Super Bowl after 33 years, are getting things moving to improve the program. Just on Friday, the Cincinnati Planning Commission approved the Bengals new temporary indoor practice facility. The Bengals legal team says they hope to have it up and running for next season.
