On Thursday, July 28, 2022, at 4:29 p.m., the Casa Grande Police Department responded to a call for service regarding shots fired near the Goodwill store located at 1325 East Florence Boulevard. Witnesses reported a male subject was lying on the ground on the west side of the business and another male subject was running eastbound from the area.
When officers arrived, they discovered a man who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers rendered first aid to the 35-year-old victim who was transported to a valley hospital for treatment. The victim underwent surgery and is currently in stable condition.
Simultaneously, Officers discovered the suspect as he entered another business in the same shopping center. The suspect was arrested without incident. The firearm and relevant items of evidence were discovered on the scene and secured.
The suspect is identified as 18-year-old Marcus Juan. Juan was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center and charges of Aggravated Assault will be forwarded to the Pinal County Attorney’s Office for review. Neither the suspect nor the victim, are City of Casa Grande residents.
The motive for the shooting is unclear and this remains an ongoing investigation.
