Police have confirmed that a male bicyclist was struck at 5010 Eastern Avenue on Tuesday. According to police, around 1:45 p.m., 65-year-old Curtis Spear struck a 2011 maroon Jeep Patriot driven by 18-year-old Seth Kelly. Officials say that Kelly attempted to pass Spear, the bicyclist made a change of course and struck the Jeep on the right side of the vehicle. The 65-year-old sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to UC Medical Center where he is being treated and listed in critical condition, police say. The driver of the Jeep was uninjured. According to officials, excessive speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash. Spear was wearing a helmet and Kelly was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
