The Xavier Musketeers extended their winning streak to four games in the Crosstown Shootout on Saturday, defeating the Cincinnati Bearcats 80-77 at Fifth Third Arena.Guard Souley Boum led the Musketeers with 21 points, while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out three assists. Forwards Jack Nunge and Zach Freemantle scored 18 and 14 points, respectively, while Freemantle led the team with 12 rebounds. Guard Colby Jones led Xavier with four assists and scored 15 points. Cincinnati guard David DeJulius led all scorers with 22 points. Forward Victor Lahkin had 16 points for the Bearcats and led the team with eight rebounds.Both teams shot 45 percent from the field on Saturday. The Musketeers turned the ball over 12 times, while Cincinnati committed 15 turnovers. The Musketeers led 41-24 at halftime, but the Bearcats clawed their way back into the contest, outscoring Xavier 53-39 in the second half.Trailing 76-70 with under one minute to play, DeJulius sunk a three for Cincinnati to bring the score to 76-73. Following a Xavier free throw, DeJulius cashed in on another three pointer with 11 seconds remaining, drawing the foul in the process and sinking a free throw to tie the game at 77.However, the Musketeers had a final chance to end the game in regulation. With two seconds left, Boum was fouled and connected on the first attempt to give Xavier a 78-77 lead. After Boum missed the second free throw, Cincinnati was called for another foul with one second left, allowing Boum to connect on two more from the charity stripe and deliver the Musketeers the 80-77 victory.
