What a way to open the week with back to back days of full sunshine. The south winds blew warm, June level air back to central Indiana.
Today marked the 5th 80-degree day of the year and we are still in April. The temperature at 5 p.m. Monday reached 81°. That is the normal high temperature for June 9th and the second straight year that April 28th has produced an 80° high. It is easy to forget that the average high to end April is still 68°.
As clouds arrive later tonight, the temperature drop off will stall and it will be a very warm night. Early Tuesday morning may start near 70°, that’s 20° above normal and closer to the average high for this time of the year.
We will add to the April rainfall totals soon. The month has produced 7.68″, which isthe 7th wettest on record to-date and wettest April since 2013. Off a suite of rainfall producing machines – an additional .50″ to over 1″ rainfall possible before the month ends Wednesday.
Massive overhaul in the upper-air pattern in the works as we get into May. Rainfall production will be put on hold as massive upper-level high pressure takes hold. The so-called “Omega Block” pattern brings extended spell of dry, sunny and warm days here starting next week.
