MADISON – Wisconsin Women in Government, a bi-partisan organization made up of women in public service positions and government adjacent jobs, is excited to announce the keynote speaker for the Annual Scholarship & Recognition GALA, Growing Alliances in Leadership & Advocacy, fundraiser and award ceremony.
American speechwriter, Sarah Hurwitz, will be the featured speaker at the April 30, 2025 event. Hurwitz was a senior speechwriter for President Barack Obama in 2009 and 2010 before becoming the head speechwriter for First Lady Michelle Obama from 2010 to 2017. She also worked on policy issues affecting young women and girls as a senior advisor to the White House Council on Women and Girls.
“The GALA committee reviewed many qualified speakers for our 2025 event and we are excited to announce that Sarah has agreed to come and share her experiences working in government,” says Brittney Richmond, Co-Chair of the GALA committee.
“The annual presentation of accomplished women speakers is a significant draw for our event, providing attendees with unique perspectives on opportunities available to women in government roles, both within Wisconsin and nationally.” adds Richmond.
The GALA event recognizes outstanding women in public service, supports the next generation of leaders through scholarships, serves as a networking function and raises money for WWIG through ticket sales and silent auction items. The keynote speaker alternates between women with Democratic and Republican affiliations each year.
