ST. PAUL, Minn. (KELO) — The Minnesota Wild have signed one of their cornerstone defensemen to an extension.

The team announced on Monday that 21-year-old Brock Faber signed an eight-year, $68 million contract extension that begins the 2025-26 season and goes through the 2032-33 season.

The former Minnesota Golden Gopher recorded 47 points while 82 games as a rookie in 2023-24. The Maple Grove, Minnesota native led all NHL rookies in time on ice and finished 6th in time on ice among all NHL skaters.

Faber made his NHL debut with the Wild on April 10, 2023. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2020 NHL Draft. Faber was traded in 2022, in exchange for forward Kevin Fiala and a draft pick.
