“We shockingly met at work—we both work at Who What Wear!” Editorial Director Lauren Eggertsen shares as she explains how she first met Mark Pascale, the Director of Project Management, at the Who What Wear office. Though they were colleagues for years, they lived on different coasts so it wasn’t until work travel in 2019 that they met in person for the first time, and the connection was immediate. “At the time, I was living in New York and Mark was living in Los Angeles. I didn’t even really know he existed until he took a work trip to the New York office back in 2019 where he introduced himself to me. We had an instant connection that, at first, sparked a friendship between the two of us. Since at the time, we lived on opposite sides of the country, neither of us had any expectations for where this connection would lead, but my move back to L.A. in 2020 definitely propelled us to start exploring this ‘friendship’ a bit more intentionally.” explains Eggertsen.
Their close friendship soon turned into dating after Eggertsen’s cross-country move from New York to Los Angeles. “Over the course of the next year, we continued to grow closer [and] started dating officially.” Eggertsen shares. “Dating Mark felt different since day one. Never in my life had I experienced such a sense of peace while navigating a new relationship. Who he is at his core is so good, it inherently makes me want to be a better person for him. We balance each other in so many ways and the way he loves me is unmatched.”
Mark proposed in October of 2023 in the backyard of a family home in Leipers Fork, Tennessee. “We had been planning a trip out there to stay at my aunt’s house with my mom and dad and to visit our friends, Sam and Zach. Little did I know, Mark had been planning a proposal the entire time,” Eggertsen recalls. “I definitely knew the proposal was happening sometime within the year because I was involved in the design of my ring, but I did not expect it to happen on this trip. Mark lit up the gorgeous tree-filled property at my aunt’s home with twinkle lights where he had a mini outdoor theater set up for us to watch a video he had compiled of all our sweet memories together over the years. Once the video ended, he got down on one knee and proposed. Our friend Zach hid amongst the trees to take pictures while Sam and my family were anxiously waiting inside the house for us to come back and celebrate.”
Though she didn’t know about the timing of the engagement, leading up to it, Eggertsen was involved in the engagement ring design. “My dear friend, Octavia, the designer and founder of Octavia Elizabeth, designed my engagement ring. It was always my dream to use the diamonds from my grandmother’s wedding ring in my own, so we worked with Octavia to re-set the stones in a design that felt just right for me. I very much enjoyed being a part of the ring designing process,” Eggertsen says. “Octavia encouraged me from the beginning that she believes the proposal should be a surprise, but the ring should not.”
The couple held the wedding in Los Angeles in November 2024. Though there was a chance of rain, only a momentary shower arrived before the ceremony to make way for a sun-drenched day. There, the couple brought over 150 of their closest family members and friends. They celebrated their love within the lush grounds of The Houdini Estate tucked into the Hollywood Hills with three Danielle Frankel dresses, outfit changes that included pieces from Alessandra Rich, Prada, and special vintage finds, and a layered Bavarian cream cake made by the groom’s sister. “Marrying this man is the greatest gift I have experienced so far in this life,” Eggertsen shares.
“Friday night we hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Kimpton La Peer hotel in West Hollywood where we got to spend quality time with our friends and family before the big day. Mark and I each had huge bridal parties which meant the guest count this night was quite high yet somehow still felt perfectly intimate.”
“I wore a Danielle Frankel dress this evening that I bought at LOHO Bride in Los Angeles. I worked with Christy Baird, the founder of LOHO Bride, to source the perfect looks for my wedding weekend, including my actual wedding dress. I had been curious about this dress since its debut in one of Danielle’s 2023 collections so when it came time to finally start wedding shopping, I had to try it on. I immediately fell in love with the exposed boning and tulip-like shape at the hips. This dress is me and I felt incredible wearing it.”
“Those who know me know I have an unhealthy obsession with Prada. I wanted to incorporate the brand into at least one of my wedding looks and these green satin shoes ended up pairing perfectly with my rehearsal dinner dress. I loved the unexpected pop of color in a way that was beyond the more expected ‘something blue’.”

“Before the rehearsal dinner started, our incredible photographer, Jes Workman, shot some portraits of us outside the hotel. She ended up spotting this lumber yard across the street and before you know it we were having a full photoshoot on the lot. It was definitely unexpected but these photos are some of my favorites from the weekend.”
WWW Weddings tip: “If it makes sense with your budget, I recommend booking your wedding photographer for at least one other event prior to your actual wedding date. We had ours shoot our rehearsal dinner and it was such a great way to get to know her, get comfortable in front of the camera, and basically get all of those front-of-camera jitters out before it really matters most. Mark and I are not super comfortable in front of the camera, so this was a game-changer for us.”
“The brief time we spent taking portraits before the rehearsal dinner ended up being one of our favorite moments of the evening because it gave us a brief moment of alone time before all the socializing began. We both really value quality time so we cherished these intimate moments throughout the weekend.”
“For dinner, we ate one of our favorite meals: Caesar salads, smash burgers, and French fries. Mark and I each asked two people in our lives to give speeches at the dinner which was such a sweet way to kick off the wedding weekend. After dinner, we all hung out near the firepits at the hotel bar and invited additional guests who were staying at the hotel for the wedding weekend to join us for late-night drinks. We basically closed the place down—no one wanted to leave, we were having so much fun.”
“I spent the morning getting ready at The Houdini Estate with my bridal party, mom, aunt, and mother-in-law. I had the lovely Jenny Ventura do my makeup and I could not have imagined a better experience. We did an extensive trial at my apartment beforehand to get my perfect bridal look just right which made me feel at peace the day of. We landed on a makeup look that felt elegant and timeless. My long-time hairdresser, Ashley Ruiz, who now works at Flore Los Angeles, styled my hair into an elongated, twisted bun. Having Ashley do my hair on a day that can generate so many nerves was such a gift since I feel so comfortable around her. I have always instinctually trusted her with my hair over the years and this day was no different. I wore a robe that my mom had designed for me made from the fabric of her wedding dress. It was such a special gift and I loved having that piece of her with me all day as my ‘something old’.”
“All of our printed materials were custom illustrated by the extremely talented Alexandra Drinkwater of One Mimosa Please. I had been a fan of her work for quite some time and it felt surreal to have her designing all of the save the dates, invites, menus, bar signs, and more for our wedding day. We had her illustrate the gate at the entrance of our venue, The Houdini Estate, on our invite which is definitely one of my favorite little details.”
“After my hair and makeup was done, I transferred my vows from my phone to my vow book. I wanted to save this until the morning of to really re-center myself and dedicate time to reflecting on just how much I love Mark and the commitment we were about to make to one another. I opted to wear this gorgeous white lace and feather statement robe from Alessandra Rich for the second half of the morning. I will admit it—I was not afraid to really ‘go there’ with my looks throughout the weekend.”

“My mom and my aunt helped me get into my wedding dress before stepping out for my first look with Mark. Sharing this moment with them before the day began was something I will always cherish. Both of them wore Taller Marmo dresses and looked incredible in them.”
“My wedding dress was the Danielle Frankel Remy Dress, also sourced at LOHO Bride, with the help of Christy Baird. It was everything I was looking for in a dress and more. It surprised me. I almost didn’t even try it on, but thank goodness I did. The dress is technically two separate pieces—a bra top and a skirt attached to a corset. I accessorized the look further with a matching leather belt.”
WWW Weddings tip: “Try on a lot of dresses! I went into my wedding dress search thinking I knew exactly what I wanted and the dress I ended up wearing couldn’t have been farther from what I originally kept gravitating toward. Make a bunch of appointments, try everything on, and take lots of pictures.”

“Before heading out to meet Mark, my bridal party, mom, dad, and aunt gathered around me in prayer. Everyone took turns praying over our marriage. I was constantly grateful for these little moments that grounded me throughout the day and made me realize how blessed I am to have such amazing friends and family.”
“Our wedding took place at The Houdini Estate in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles. This property was our number one venue choice and actually the only one we even looked at. We were searching for that old-world feel because of that, and The Houdini Estate won our hearts instantly with its history, charm, and intricate grounds. The property was build in the early 1900s and is where the famous magician, Harry Houdini, was known to have practiced his magic. The property still has the original hidden tunnels, caves, and gorgeous terraced gardens that have since been restored to accommodate events such as ours. It was during our first look that Mark and I were able to really soak up the glory of this place and couldn’t wait for our guests to arrive to experience it for themselves.”
“Mark and I ultimately decided to do a first look before the ceremony. We also wanted to exchange our personalized vows privately versus reading them aloud at the ceremony. We are both pretty private people so sharing our vows publicly made us feel a little uneasy—sharing them privately was our preference. We both still gush about how special this moment was to us—one of our favorite moments from the entire day. Having these moments alone together was a game-changer for our nerves and ensured we felt consistently and intentionally connected throughout the very busy day.”

“I also did a first look with my dad and it was the sweetest moment. My dad was so emotional throughout the entire wedding planning process, and this photo captures that perfectly. Sharing this one-on-one moment with him was everything and more.”
“After our vow exchange, we took a ton of photos and videos. I had been a long-time fan of our photographer, Jes Workman, and was so excited and honored to have her capture our day. Between her photography style and the venue’s ornate and lush backdrop, I knew these would be some of my favorite photos from the day and I was right. Our good friends, Mickey and Calvin of This Union, filmed our wedding day for us which was such a gift. They captured most of the day using a Super 8 camera and the rest on digital. Having them by our side to capture all of these intimate moments made the day that much more special to us.”
“Wearing this Danielle Frankel dress felt like wearing a work of art. This dress was all about the details—the construction, the draping, the lace applique, the pleats—it was all perfect. I paired the dress with minimal point-toe pumps with a delicate ankle strap from Stuart Weitzman and jewelry from Octavia Elizabeth. As I mentioned before, I worked with Christy Baird from LOHO Bride to source my wedding dress during which I got to experience LOHO’s new VIP room and styling services. It was here that Baird worked with me from the initial try-on appointments up until my very last round of alterations.”

“Our florist was Hope Sword of Pigsty. Hope and her team nailed our vision perfectly. She helped me fine-tune some of my ideas for my bouquet and ended up creating an arrangement that was equal parts elegant and quirky which is exactly what I wanted. This is also a great shot of my jewelry! Octavia from Octavia Elizabeth, who is a good friend of mine, designed custom emerald and pearl earrings for me and we paired them with one of her iconic nesting gem diamond tennis necklaces. Octavia also designed my engagement ring and my and Mark’s wedding bands. Mark also wore her 18-karat yellow gold cuff links and tux studs. I loved being able to wear pieces exclusively designed by her on this day and am so grateful to her for her talent and friendship.”
“Our photographer, Jes Workman, was great about scouting the most gorgeous locations for us to take photos in front of, including this blue floral wall.”
“We know—we had massive bridal parties, but there was never a question in our minds if we wanted to do without them or not. We wanted to be surrounded by our best friends all day long and it ended up making the day ten times more fun. The groomsmen wore traditional tuxedos from The Black Tux and my bridal party wore dresses in an array of mismatched hues. I helped curate a color palette that looked good together without looking like a rainbow and I think it ended up looking incredible. The best part was seeing each of my friends find a dress that was perfect for them and their personal style.”

“My veil was also from Danielle Frankel that I purchased at LOHO Bride. We wanted a veil that mirrored the pleats and lace appliqué in my dress.”
“Our ceremony was held right outside of the koi pond at The Houdini Estate. We were stationed in front of the lush garden area surrounding the pond which made for a stunning ceremony backdrop.”
WWW Weddings tip: “If it makes sense with your budget, hire a planner. Our planners, Abby and Caroline, made this process as easy as it could be, and knowing they had our back through every decision was worth every penny. Navigating the wedding space is a beast and Mark and I knew absolutely nothing about booking vendors, navigating contracts, mapping out timelines, and more—these are the things you want the planners to have to think about, not you. It is thanks to them that our wedding was what it was.”
“Our guests arrived at the venue and were instantly welcomed with the magic of The Houdini Estate. They entered at the lower level, were greeted with Prosecco, and were encouraged to make their way up the grand staircase to the ceremony that was tucked away in front of the main house. Along the way, guests could explore the winding pathways, secret bridges, and historic statues.”
“We wanted our ceremony to feel as intimate as possible, even with a 150+ guest count. Our incredible planners, Abby Ulf and Caroline Garcia from Abby and Caroline took our vision for this and ran with it. They sourced the most gorgeous white iron chairs from Theoni to help maintain the vintage feel of the venue and decor. The chairs were organized in a sort of semi-circle around where Mark and I stood and the first row was quite close to us which we loved. These chairs were all I could talk about and were worth every penny.”
WWW Weddings tip: “If you have a random detail you’re fixating on, make it happen. I was obsessed with finding a certain kind of chair for our ceremony and now seeing the photos of the gorgeous ones we chose from Theoni, I am glad I caused a minor fuss about this search. I will admit that there are some details I could have spent less time stressing about, but I do recommend paying attention to the few that keep you up at night because in the end, it was worth listening to my gut.”
“We are so thankful to Abby and Caroline for helping us find the perfect vendors for our wedding day because I couldn’t have imagined a better team to execute our vision. One of the main reasons why we loved The Houdini Estate so much was because it was gorgeous as is and didn’t need much decor. I was very keen on having florals with a lot of quirky and bright greenery and Abby and Caroline knew Hope from Pigsty would nail the look. Here you can see how she weaved the floral arrangements into the existing greenery and built it out to feel so lush and organic.”
“Fighting back tears as I walked down the aisle. This was such a surreal moment. I walked down the aisle with my dad to an instrumental version of one of my favorite songs—’Promise’ by Ben Howard.”
“It was Hope’s idea to do something different with our flower girls (my cousins) and I am so glad we did. Instead of the traditional baskets with petals, she suggested we give them calla lily “wands” to walk down the aisle with. They absolutely loved them.”
“We were married by our close family friend and childhood youth pastor, Brian Ong. I have known Brian since I was in middle school and have since grown up with him and his family as a huge part of my life. Mark got equally as close with him over the years and we both knew that having Brian be our officiant was a non-negotiable. He gave the most Spirit-filled service and incorporated sweet personal touches throughout as well. People are still telling us how special our ceremony was because of how he led it.”

“After the ceremony, our guests migrated to a different part of the property for our cocktail hour. Since Mark and I took a majority of our photos earlier in the day, we were able to join cocktail hour and chat with all of our friends and family.”
“The setup for cocktail hour was inspired by the nature of The Houdini Estate itself. Abby and Caroline suggested we opt for kiwi-colored velvet tablecloths for the high-top tables, white iron bistro tables to match our ceremony chairs, and antique silver candelabras were used for our escort display. All of the rentals for our cocktail hour were from Theoni. Theoni has the most impressive curation of stylish rentals from linens to bars. They really helped bring our vision to life. In the final days of planning, Hope from Pigsty had the idea to drape green amaranthus all over the candelabras and it turned out to be one of my favorite little details.”
WWW Weddings tip: “Create a mood board before hiring your planners. Before planning this wedding (and still to this day), I knew nothing about the wedding industry so knowing what to even ask for when it came to preferences across the board was quite overwhelming. I decided to make a deck that highlighted the overall vibe I wanted for our wedding and would email it to planners to see if they were excited about executing it. When I met with Abby and Caroline for the first time, they were excited about the vision and assured me they had all the perfect vendors and ideas to make it come to life.”

“During cocktail hour, guests snacked on appetizers from Whoa Nelly and indulged in drinks from The Whaling Club. Everyone raved about the food and drinks at our wedding and it’s all thanks to those two vendors. The bars here were covered in Hope’s gorgeous arrangements and had the cutest bar signs designed by One Mimosa Please.”
“The cigar bar we curated opened during the cocktail hour and remained a hit all throughout the reception and after party.”

“We entered our reception to a classic—’Kiss Me’ by Sixpence None The Richer—and were so excited to finally sit down and eat with our friends and family.”
“The reception was held in the lawn area of The Houdini Estate. Guests ventured down a winding path to enter the dance floor and dining area where they were greeted by long table arrangements that bordered the dance floor. We kept the linens simple and the flowers bold. On top of each plate was a custom-illustrated menu from One Mimosa Please that detailed the delicious family-style meal being provided by Whoa Nelly. Out florist, Pigsty gracefully weaved green amaranthus throughout the long tables and worked with a food stylist to incorporate fruits and vegetables into the table displays. I was so keen on making sure the florals and tabletop design were interesting enough yet still fairly minimal and our planners Abby and Caroline executed this flawlessly.”
“The floral arrangement from Pigsty at the main bar of the reception was my absolute favorite of the entire event. I feel like every time I look at one of the photos I notice something new. Tucked away off the side of the reception was a martini bar that served classic and dirty martinis all night long. We loved being able to utilize and highlight The Houdini Estate’s many hidden areas that our guests had the best time exploring.”
“Listening to the speeches from our matrons of honor, best man, and my dad was definitely a highlight. My goal is to have everyone who gave a speech send them to us so we can get them printed in a book to be able to look back on over the years.”
“This was truly a Who What Wear wedding! I have worked at Who What Wear for almost ten years and Mark for years as well which means we have built some amazing friendships with our co-workers over the years. It was so special to be able to celebrate with those from our teams who we are closest to.”
The couple shares their first dance.
“I wasn’t planning on changing into a new dress for our reception, but I ended up finding the perfect Danielle Frankel dress on The Real Real the week before the wedding (and lace Manolo Hangisi pumps to go with it). I didn’t plan on wearing three Danielle Frankel dresses during my wedding weekend, but I took that TRR find as a sign. Back when I was living in New York, I went to Danielle’s first-ever market appointment right as she launched her brand. I remember leaving the appointment and calling my mom to excitedly share that I had found the woman who I know will make my wedding dress. Turns out, she made all three.”
“Our photographer introduced us to an incredible disposable camera company called Foto Foto that we used to capture hundreds of our favorite candid moments throughout the wedding night. The cameras are made of 100% up-cycled materials and are insanely cute. Our guests were obsessed.”
“Changing into a lighter, more dance floor-friendly dress was definitely the move. Our friends love to dance so once the music started, we truly never stopped.”
“Mark’s sister, Lauren Pascale, made our wedding cake! She is the most talented baker and having her be a part of this moment was so special for us. We trusted her fully with the flavors because she is always making us the tastiest creations and we knew this cake would be no different. She opted for chocolate cake with Bavarian cream, fresh berries, and Italian buttercream frosting. The crowd went wild for this cake.”
“In addition to a wedding cake, we had an ice cream sundae bar that was also catered by Whoa Nelly.”
“Our DJs, Dart Collective, ensured no one left the dance floor the entire night.”
“One of the many other reasons we chose The Houdini Estate was because we had envisioned an epic after-party inside the estate once the reception ended. Our planners filled the living room of the estate with hundreds of silver balloons with long satin ribbons that created the best atmosphere for hours of more dancing.”
“I changed again into my last look of the night which was a feather skirt from Miss Claire Sullivan and a vintage corset top from one of my favorite vintage Instagram accounts, Seduisante Vintage. Finding an after-party look that felt perfect was more difficult than finding my wedding dress! I didn’t want anything too on the nose with rhinestones and such and had always envisioned a feather moment but couldn’t find the right look until I came across this skirt. It was perfect for dancing the rest of the night away in.”
“Guests were greeted with espresso martinis before entering the after party to ensure energy stayed high.”
“Our friend, one of Mark’s groomsmen, Tayler Shepherd, DJ’d the after party and absolutely killed it. He played hit after hit and had everyone dancing until we were kicked out. It is not pictured here, but guests were also jumping in the pool at The Houdini Estate in their full dresses and tuxedos. This part of the night felt like a house party in the best way which is exactly what we wanted.”
