SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — There may be some hope for precipitation over the next several weeks.
The dry conditions so far this winter are leaving Aberdeen and Sioux Falls in their top ten for driest winters.
If both cities were not to receive ANY precipitation through February, then Aberdeen with have its 6th driest winter on record and Sioux Falls would have its 10th driest.
Let’s hope that doesn’t happen as moisture becomes more important with spring just around the corner.
According to some model information, the next six weeks are showing better signs for moisture.
As you can see, it’s trying to bring in above-average moisture to eastern KELOLAND through the middle of March.

At the same time, temperatures will continue to swing back and forth. So expect periods of temperatures to be above and below average.
I wouldn’t get overly excited about the precip though. It wasn’t that long ago that a storm system was trying to take aim on KELOLAND later this week and now it looks like it will stay south of us.
