SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Scattered rain Wednesday and Thursday will move through KELOLAND with mostly dry skies for the weekend. Dry conditions can be expected as we are starting to get a sneak peek at next month.

Mostly cloudy skies kept temperatures cooler than average on Wednesday. In fact, if Sioux Falls stayed in the 70s, it will mark seven days in a row with highs only in the 70s for Sioux Falls. This comes at a time when the climate average high is 84. But give it some time and we may see things swing the other direction.

Here’s a look at a forecast model that takes us through the third week of September. It shows temperatures are expected to be above average throughout the central and northern United States.

Cross-reference that forecast with a look at the rain expected and it keeps many in KELOLAND at or below average for rain.

Aside from some activity today and tomorrow, after the robust start to the summer with heavy rain in June things have settled down. And it looks like we’ll eventually get out of this cool period that we’re in.
