SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – The holidays are a popular time for wedding proposals, so the New Year often brings along planning for brides and grooms-to-be.
“We always say try to get the venue first so you have a date. Once you have a date you kind of work on all the vendors,” Tyler Childress, owner of Laurel Ridge Barn, said.
“Take your time. Research your vendors,” Chris Hintz, President of Pinnacle Productions, said. “Prioritize what’s most important to you. If it’s food, invest in the food. If it’s entertainment, invest in the entertainment. If it’s photography, invest in that.”
Researching all of the vendors needed for a wedding can be intimidating for newly engaged couples. That’s why this weekend Laurel Ridge Barn is hosting a wedding showcase where 20 vendors will be here ready to help you plan your special day.
“From DJ’s, photographers, catering companies — it’s kind of an open house. We’ll have gifts to give away for prizes so we just invite everyone to come out and see it,” Childress said.
Pinnacle Productions is one of the vendors for this weekend.
“The ‘friend-ors’ that are going to be here are all substantial. They’re all willing to, I think, really help to educate and advocate for people planning a wedding because most of us have never done it before,” Hintz said.
Making the planning process a little less stressful.
“Sometimes in-person, face-to-face is just so much easier than, you know, getting on Google looking for a DJ, looking for a photographer. It’s just easier to see somebody face-to-face,” Childress said.
The wedding showcase is Sunday from noon to three at the Laurel Ridge Barn just one mile north of Sioux Falls on Slip Up Creek Road.
