SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It will be cold today, but it will warm for the weekend (and beyond).
The wind is NOT as strong this morning. Many are starting with temperatures in the single digits above and below zero. With any wind, wind chills are in the minus single digits and minus teens.
The day will be partly sunny and cold. Highs will be in the teens in central and eastern KELOLAND. Expect slightly warmer temperatures in western South Dakota with highs in the 30s. Winds will become southerly and average 10 to 15 mph.
Light south winds will continue tonight to allow for slowly warming temperatures. As this happens, flurries and light snow showers will be possible for the eastern half of South Dakota. Any snow that develops will remain light with accumulations less than a half inch.
We’ll start warming tomorrow. With mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies, highs will reach the 20s and 30s in eastern KELOLAND to the 50s in western South Dakota.
Expect melting snow in eastern KELOLAND on Sunday as highs warm to the 30s and 40s. Western South Dakota will have highs in the 40s and 50s.
Temperatures will continue to slowly warm during Christmas week with highs in the 30s and 40s in eastern KELOLAND while the 40s and 50s remain in western South Dakota.
