A controversy is brewing regarding some old social media posts by a Walnut Hills High School math teacher.The posts are laced with racist and homophobic language. The original tweets are from about 10 years ago when the teacher was a teenager, but many parents and students say the hurt is real today.When the posts were discovered recently, the teacher sent a letter apologizing to the principal and the school community saying the statements made as a high schooler do not represent who she is today or what she believes. Rhonda Craig has a 14-year-old child who attends the school. She and other parents said they understand this happened some time ago but the district should look at the impact now and this teacher might need cultural sensitivity training.”I teach my child that words have consequences things have consequences I always say watch what you do they have a consequence,” Craig said.In a statement, the school district reported an investigation concluded no evidence the teacher currently uses this type of language. She was a minor and not employed by the district. No discipline was issued. Some students have also been denied a request to transfer out of the teacher’s class.
