SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A man from Vietnam living in South Dakota admits to possessing child pornography.
A judge sentenced 28-year-old Than Dat Nguyen to just over a year behind bars. Nguyen is also ordered to pay $2,000 in fines. Following his sentence, he will be deported.
The crimes were committed in Hughes County in 2021.
“This case demonstrates how effective South Dakota’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is at protecting children across South Dakota,” Attorney General Marty Jackley said in a news release.
