MANILA, Philippines—The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers have gained tremendous support in hopes of bringing back their lost basketball glory.
And UST made sure that its juniors basketball program won’t be left behind.
The school’s newly-signed partnership with Cocolife and Dumper Partylist is not only for the benefit of the men’s team but also to help boost the Tiger Cubs.
New Tiger Cubs coach Manu Iñigo has big expectations for his team heading into the UAAP Season 86.
“It’s hard to say that the championship is the goal right away but really, that’s the real goal. That’s what we’ll be working on and of course, all our opponents would want the same thing as well,” said Iñigo on Tuesday.
Iñigo, who was officially named head coach of the Tiger Cubs last March, has shown he is capable of steering a team to a championship after guiding the San Beda Red Cubs to an NCAA championship in 2019.
Now, Iñigo is handling a UST side that finished fourth in the UAAP Season 85 with a 7-7 record.
“Right now, there are summer leagues that we play in. Honestly, if there are leagues we can join in, we really join in so their exposure is continuous,” said Iñigo.
“However we (San Beda) became successful before, that’s what we’ll bring here [in UST].”
