VERMILLION – Nine sports programs at the University of South Dakota achieved perfect Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores in the 2020-21 season, according to data released this week by the NCAA. Three of those programs earned perfect multi-year scores.
Every Coyote program surpassed the minimum APR academic standard of 930. Nine sports had perfect scores of 1,000, including men’s basketball, men’s golf, women’s basketball, women’s cross country, women’s golf, softball, women’s tennis, women’s track and field, and volleyball. Women’s basketball, women’s cross country, and volleyball were the three programs with perfect multi-year scores.
Scholarship student-athletes receive one point for remaining eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. Teams normally scoring below 930 face penalties to encourage the prioritization of athletics, but those penalties are not being handed out this year.
