Even with a few messy handoffs of the baton & a steady rain falling, the quartet of Melissa Jefferson, TeeTee Terry, Gabby Thomas & Sha’Carri Richardson was able to edge out Great Britain for the gold medal in the 4×100 meter final.
As Richardson took the lead with about 50 meters left and knew she was on her way to gold, she turned and looked at her competitors behind her. The team finished with a first place time of 41.78, Great Britain finished second with a time of 41.85 & coming in third was Germany with a time of 41.97.
This is the 1oth gold medal for the US Track & Field team at this Olympic games.
