A University of Cincinnati football player has been suspended indefinitely after being arrested and charged with sexual imposition.According to arrest documents, Mario Eugenio, 19, was arrested and charged with three counts of sexual imposition, a misdemeanor of the third degree.Cincinnati Athletics released a statement saying Eugenio, who is a freshman football recruit from Florida, has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest Thursday.”UC will have no further comment while the legal process plays out,” the statement read. According to court documents, Eugenio is accused of smacking the buttocks of three people on campus while riding on a Bird scooter.Campus police said two of the cases took place on UC’s Uptown campus and one happened near campus.UC police worked with Cincinnati police on the investigation.”The suspect was arrested as a direct result of the UCPD’s thorough and strategic investigations of these incidents. We will continue to work hard to ensure the safety of our community on and around campus,” UC Police Chief Eliot Isaac said. Many students are breathing a sigh of relief after learning that a person has been arrested in connection with multiple sexual imposition cases, thanks to the teamwork of UC Police and the Cincinnati Police Department.“I do feel a lot safer, but there are a lot of cases like this that happen and I think it’s important for UC to take initiative about it and make sure the people who do these things are held responsible,” UC student Eli Cobb said.
