An officer from U.S. Marshals service was shot while serving a warrant Thursday on the Northwest Side, officials said.

The officer, who is with the service’s task force, was shot while serving a warrant, said Elorm Blake, a U.S. Marshals spokesperson for the U.S. Marshals office.

Paramedics responded to West Belmont Avenue, possibly near California, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt, who said the patient was shot in the hand.
