Saahdiq Charles sent shockwaves through the football landscape on Tuesday when the Tennessee Titans announced the 25-year-old was retiring.
Charles was listed as the Titans’ starting right guard on the first unofficial depth chart ahead of Saturday’s preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Charles was absent from several practices, but Titans head coach Brian Callahan cited personal reasons. Still, Charles’ retirement adds a significant hole along the right side of the Titans’ offensive line, an area that was already under tremendous scrutiny.
The Titans could be in the market for an offensive lineman before Week 1 against the Chicago Bears. However, Dillon Radunz and others may get a chance to prove themselves, beginning on Saturday night.
