BRANDON, S.D. (KELO) — A business in Brandon is helping take the chill out of winter.

Inside this newly remodeled building along N. Splitrock Boulevard in Brandon, you’ll find Burn 605 Infrared Fitness Studio.

“Burn 605 is just a community built in Brandon for group fitness. We do infrared heated fitness classes and we incorporate yoga into those,” Burn 605 owner Tracey Kruckenberg said.

Owner Tracey Kruckenberg opened the business last July, after not being able to find options for group fitness close to home. Burn 605 offers a variety of workouts, including this sculpt class in a room with infrared panels where the temperature routinely tops 100 degrees.

“The infrared heat is great for just detoxification, great for muscles, if you have like aches and pains, it’s great for that stuff,” Kruckenberg said.

“I decided to come take this class because I’ve always kind of had a love for exercise but I didn’t really like lifting, so it’s kind of just a way to express myself and also dance at the same time,” 16-year-old Jacee Beltman said.

Beltman is a junior at Brandon Valley High School and says the workout is worth the effort… and sweat.

“It’s really humid, so you definitely drink a lot of water, you can get dehydrated really easily, but it’s really fun, it’s really fun, and the community here is great, everyone’s so encouraging,” Beltman said.

Kruckenberg says Burn 605 currently has nearly tripled its numbers since opening, and currently sees more than 300 clients per week.

“People have really just like enveloped in our ideas and they just love it,” Kruckenberg said.

Even if that first trip takes some convincing.

“I would lie to them and tell them that it’s easy (laughs), because I was kind of scared to come at first but then my sister was like ‘no, we gotta go, we gotta go’, and then I came it ended up being something that I found a new passion for and I come almost every day now, I love it,” Beltman said.

“As people are starting to find out about it and once they try their first class, people are worried about the heat, they always come back, so we’re loving it,” Kruckenberg said.

The most popular class at Burn 605 is a 45-minute session that begins daily at 5:15 a.m., with about 30 people participating.
