New York prosecutors announced the first criminal indictment Thursday in a two-year investigation into Donald Trump’s business practices, accusing his namesake company and its longtime finance chief of tax crimes related to fringe benefits for employees.

The charges against the Trump Organization and its chief financial officer, Allen Weisselberg, including 2nd-degree larceny charges against Weisselberg. He entered a plea of not guilty.

Prosecutors alleged in court that he orchestrated a “sweeping and audacious illegal payment scheme.”
