As of Saturday afternoon, Beryl is about 800 miles east-southeast of Barbados and moving west at about 23 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 65 mph. The storm is expected to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane before reaching the Windward Islands, the southern part of the Lesser Antilles island group, late Sunday.

Expected rainfall totals are 3 to 6 inches across Barbados and the Windward Islands, which could cause flooding in vulnerable areas.
