Wrapping up the Tottenham transfer news, rumours and gossip in the 2022 summer window.

Harry Kane is reportedly willing to sign a new contract at Tottenham.

The England captain pushed to join Manchester City last summer and is understood to have turned down a contract extension shortly after reluctantly conceding that he would be staying at Spurs.

But the Evening Standard claim Kane is now pleased by Spurs’ progress under Antonio Conte and increasingly hopeful he can fulfil his ambitions of winning a trophy with his boyhood club next season.

Kane is yet to hold talks with the club, with two years to run on his current deal, and has been focussed on securing Champions League qualification.

‘Spurs clearly backing Conte this summer’

Sky Sports News reporter Paul Gilmour:

“Following the news that Tottenham have put in £150m of equity funds into the club, the club are clearly backing Antonio Conte in the transfer market this summer.

“They will target several positions including goalkeeper, centre back, wing-back, central midfielder and a striker. As many as six or seven players could arrive. They will need to find the right balance with homegrown players. There is currently an imbalance in this area.

“Conte wants more depth in the squad, and he also wants to add experienced players, a shift from recent times when Spurs targeted younger players.

“There are some at the club who feel it’s inaccurate they didn’t spend in the past but there is an acknowledgement they didn’t always get recruitment right.

“Fabio Paratici can do no wrong at the club currently. Additions of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski have given belief that they are finally getting it right in this area.

“Extensive homework is being carried out on player ability and character. Spurs recently rejected the chance to sign one talented Premier League player because their research highlighted concerns he could be a disruptive influence.”

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris has told Sky Sports the club must make the “right decisions” this summer if they are to improve next season.

Tottenham qualified for the Champions League after finishing fourth under head coach Antonio Conte, but the Frenchman believes there is “plenty” of improvement if they are to compete for honours next season.

He said: “We need to enjoy this achievement, but there’s still plenty of things to do.

“I think there is still a gap for improvement and obviously with the help of the players, the help of the club with the right decisions, the help of the crowd and the help of our manager and coaching staff we can become better and stronger, and ready to compete next season.

“It’s a great satisfaction and next season we have to come stronger with more ambition and ready to compete for everything.”
