The Tennessee Titans will be without linebacker Luke Gifford for a bit after he sustained a concussion on opening kickoff of Saturday’s preseason win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Paul Kuharsky reported the news during head coach Brian Callahan’s media availability on Sunday.

The 28-year-old is entering the second leg of his two-year deal and was limited to mainly a special teams role with the Titans last year. Gifford made it into 11 games, including one start, during the 2023 NFL season and recorded six tackles.

He was listed in a third-string role on Tennessee’s first unofficial depth chart and had two interceptions in practice last week.

In his absence, linebackers Chance Campbell and Otis Reese IV played well in the Titans’ 17-13 win over the 49ers on Saturday.

Campbell recorded a team-high nine tackles, one sack, one pass deflection, and one interception. Reese recorded four tackles, including one tackle for loss.
