The Tennessee Titans lost another game on Sunday, falling to 3-11 on the season. The two positives from this game are the team’s draft position got better and the season is closer to being over.

The Titans committed six turnovers on Sunday. If that wasn’t bad enough, the team also committed 12 penalties for 110 penalties. Brian Callahan has not only failed to improve this team on the field, but the lack of discipline is only getting worse.

This team has no direction, no identity, no anything. When the home crowd goes wild because the backup quarterback is in the game, you know you have problems.

Final score: Bengals 37, Titans 27

  • Titans had another undisciplined performance: The team had a season-worst six turnovers and committed 12 penalties for 110 yards. This is another performance that should have Brian Callahan embarrassed.
  • Joe Burrow gashed the defense: Joe Burrow ended the day with 271 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Titans’ secondary was unable to keep up with this talented Bengal offense. Sometimes you just don’t have the horses to compete with an opponent, and that was the case on Sunday.
  • Will Levis was benched: Will Levis had another typical Will Levis performance. This time, the quarterback was benched after throwing his third interception of the game. Levis ended the day with just 89 yards and three INTs.

It was over when…

The Bengals outscored the Titans, 17-0, in the second quarter. In a 24-14 hole, almost every Titans fan should have felt like the team was in an insurmountable deficit.

If you still had hope at that point, Levis’ third-quarter pick-6 should’ve completely ended any that remained. I’ve said it over and over: This team is not good enough to overcome multiple turnovers. Levis has now killed any positive momentum he built over the past few weeks.

Players of the Game

  • NT T’Vondre Sweat: Sweat comes to play every weekend. The massive defensive tackle stripped the ball away from Joe Burrow and rumbled down the field, delivering an impressive stiff-arm in the process. It was one of the few highlights for the Titans.
  • QB Mason Rudolph: Mason Rudolph didn’t have a great game, but the offense had much more life than it did with Levis in the game. Rudolph completed 21 of 26 passes for 209 yards and two touchdowns on the day.
  • RB Tyjae Spears: It was nice to see Spears make an impact. The second-year running back has been an afterthought due to Tony Pollard’s impressive season, but Spears came through on Sunday. The Tulane product caught six passes for 87 yards and one touchdown. The back also rushed for a score.

Injuries

Linebacker Luke Gifford left the game in the second half with a concussion and did not return.

Kenneth Murray and T’Vondre Sweat both left the game with injuries but both ended up returning. Murray had a hamstring while Sweat had a shoulder.

What’s next?

Head coach Brian Callahan will hold a Zoom call with the team’s beat writers on Monday afternoon before a few players are also made available.

Tennessee will return to practice on Wednesday ahead of a Week 16 game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, December 22 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kickoff is 12:00 p.m. CST.
