SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — We have an eye on much cooler air late next week. We will explain what’s going on.

We’ve had highs in the 80s all work week in Sioux Falls. It averages out being eight degrees above average per day. While the warm air will last through the weekend and into next week, we do see changes on the horizon.

Those changes will move in by NEXT weekend. In the meantime, it will still feel like summer for this weekend. So, if you still want to hold on to summer activities get out and enjoy it for the next several days.

The later we go through the week, the more we’ll start to see the cooler air build to our northwest. It’s just a matter of time of when the cool air moves in. As of now, the timing may end up being next weekend.

This is a sample of what the temperatures may do. This is the coldest forecast model I could find. It’s putting high temperatures in the 50s by Sunday! That’s not a taste of fall, but a mouthful.

Along with the cooler air, we’ll have better chances for rain. And it may not end up being plain rain, strong to severe thunderstorms may be something worth watching before the cooler air arrives.
