Severe storms with a threat of tornadoes and wind damage are possible Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Jackson area, according to the National Weather Service in Jackson.
Chad Entremont, a meteorologist at the NWS in Jackson, said severe storms and winds are expected early Tuesday afternoon into the late evening with damaging winds at 60 mph in Central Mississippi.
“Currently, there is a moderate-to-high risk of tornadoes in the Jackson area,” Entremont said. “Golf ball-size hail can be expected with high and extended chances of rain and flooding.”

Areas that are more likely to experience flooding and heavier rain include Greenwood, Cleveland, Hamburg, Bastrop, Winnsboro, Vicksburg and Yazoo city, while Jackson remains slightly below an enhanced risk, the NWS said.
Officials said scattered showers could cause significant damage across the region accompanied by a brief cold front.
Entremont said residents in the metro area should begin making safety arrangements now in preparation for the storm and to put as much space as possible between themselves and the outside walls.
“Tornado Warnings will be issued throughout the storm as it continues into early Wednesday morning,” Entremont said.
