It’s very hard to tell this plant-based leather from the animal-based alternative that has been used by luxury handbag makers for decades.

Tanneries release a lot of crappy junk into the air and the water to transport animals and animal skins, not to mention all the stuff they do to treat those skins. Plant-based leathers, by contrast, do not require all this chemical processing. That’s why this bag is important and why the world is paying attention.
