ARCADIA, Ind. — Students and staff are mourning the loss of a principal in the Hamilton Heights School Corporation who died Tuesday.

Superintendent Derek Arrowood confirmed the passing of Hamilton Heights High School Principal Jarrod Mason in a letter sent to students and their families.

“We are heartbroken to share that our long-time and beloved principal, Mr. Jarrod Mason,
passed away earlier today,” Arrowood said. “As a Husky community, we are all deeply saddened by this sudden loss. Mr. Mason was a Hamilton Heights student, athlete, coach, and administrator. He was more than our principal. He was our colleague, our friend, and our biggest fan. Students and staff in our community have been positively impacted by Mr. Mason.”

Following the announcement, students will have two E-Learning Days on Wednesday and Thursday. Additional counselors and staff will also be made available to students as “they care for and support each other.”

The letter also added that all athletic activities scheduled for Wednesday through Friday have been postponed in addition to a Fall Play that was slated to commence this upcoming weekend.

“This is a very difficult time for HHSC and our community. We will need to come together to care for and support each other,” Arrowood said.
