If you have been following the Olympics at all, you may have seen a very familiar face. And no, not the face of a world-renowned coach or athlete, I’m talking about hip-hop sensation Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg has been a prominent fixture in the Olympics stemming back to his hilarious commentary with Kevin Hart during the Tokyo Olympics four years ago.

You can watch that segment here (you won’t be sorry). Warning NSFW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uK5AIJQ2tlA

After this clip exploded, producers knew Snoop was the perfect character to help balance out the panel and they have ramped up his exposure at this year’s Olympics exponentially. Snoop has been visible at virtually every event involving the USA thus far including fencing, skateboarding & gymnastics, and seemingly everyone loves seeing the 6’4″ rapper whenever he pops on the screen.

But now, possibly getting more exposure than Snoop himself, is how much he is being paid for his constant appearances. No, Snoop is not at the Olympics out of the goodness of his heart. New York-based venture capitalist Henry L. McNamara shared on social media that he overheard Snoop’s daily Olympic salary from an NBC exec at dinner. The 52-year-old rapper is earning $500,000 a day, according to McNamara. That’s right… $500,000 A DAY to be present at the Olympics. I am no math expert, but some quick punching in my phone’s calculator tells me that Snoop Dogg will make around $8.5 million when the closing ceremonies commence.

For reference, here are some of the payouts by country are for winning gold, silver & bronze:

China: $768,000; Singapore: $745,000; Indonesia: $300,000; Israel: $271,000; Republic of Kazakhstan: $250,000; Malaysia: $216,000; Spain: $102,000 ;France: $87,000; South Korea: $45,000; United States: $38,000; Japan: $32,000; Poland: $25,000; Germany: $22,000; and Australia: $13,000.

Silver medal cash prizes range from $384,000 for athletes from Hong Kong, China, to $10,000 in Australia.

Bronze medal cash prizes range from $192,000 for Hong Kong athletes to $7,000 for Australian athletes.

Scottie Scheffler won $37,000 for his gold medal at Le Golf National earlier this week.

So, Snoop is out earning the athletes by a massive margin, increasing his current reported net worth of $160 million. Not a bad gig!
