SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —An eight-day event that could help boost those numbers kicks of on Friday.

The Sioux Empire Fair is known for bringing classic rock, pop and country performers.

But this year, the fair is diversifying its shows… and that’s not all.

Fiesta Latina is coming to the Sioux Empire Fair this year to better to reflect the growing community.

“I think we need to diversify and to try to stay top of mind and be relevant. We have to change. We have to change with our surroundings and we have to appeal to as many folks as we can,” CEO of the w h Lyon Fairgrounds Sioux Empire Fair Scott Wick said.

“It’s really exciting to know that there is going to be that representation. I think a lot more Hispanics will feel comfortable going out knowing that there is going to be something here for them specifically,” Tatiana Jaimes Epp said.

Along with a DJ and live music, there will also be food and drinks.

“Knowing that Sioux Falls is taking that recognition, acknowledging the diversity and seeing how many Hispanics are here helps us feel seen and welcomed because the space is growing and there are so many business owners that are Hispanic too, and we have a lot to offer,” Tatiana Jaimes Epp said.

“And we’re all in this together. We just wanted to try and appeal to more and more people. You know, we do country, we do a little bit of rock every now and then and some classic stuff,” CEO of the W H Lyon Fairgrounds Sioux Empire Fair Scott Wick said.

And now the Sioux Empire Fair is adding even more diversity to its entertainment lineup.

“We’re excited to have these bands in here Friday for this event,” CEO of the w h Lyon Fairgrounds Sioux Empire Fair Scott Wick said.

Fiesta Latina is free with Fair admission, which is $5 dollars on Friday. Kids under 5 are free.
