I know you probably get asked this all the time . . . but “Do you have a favorite gas station?” Do you go with a particular brand . . . the one with the best convenience store . . . or just whichever is the CHEAPEST?
A company asked 2,500 Americans to talk about their favorite gas station chains, and then they mapped the top choices for each state. Here’s what they found:
In the South, Buc-ee’s dominates the gas station game by essentially doubling as a shopping mall. AMPM and QuikTrip also ranked high.
In the Northeast, many people are looking for sandwiches, and they can find hoagies and breakfast sandwiches at Wawa. Cumberland Farms is the favorite in several states up there (and down in Louisiana and Mississippi). And West Virginia loves Sheetz, which also got high marks for food.
In the Midwest, people put an emphasis on pizza, which makes Casey’s General Store a hit . . . and generous rewards programs, which Speedway does well. Also, in Wisconsin, people like the local dairy products at Kwik Trip.
In the West, the two most popular are Circle K for its snacks . . . hot food . . . “availability and accessibility.” And there’s also Maverik, which carries gear for hiking and camping and other outdoor essentials.
They only asked about gas station chains WITH convenience stores . . . so smaller local stations, and bigger places like the gas at Costco weren’t included.
