SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — As we end the month of July with a bank with strong to severe storms, August will give us some relief from the heat.
The last day of July was a typical summer day with heat and humidity. All the humidity also leads to strong to severe weather. We will see a break in the humidity as we go through the first week of August, but it most likely will return as we continue through the month.
Keep in mind, this is a month when the average high temperatures start to cool. Many in eastern South Dakota go from the middle 80s at the beginning of the month to the upper 70s to near 80 by the last of the month. I expect our temperatures will fluctuate back and forth between above-average and below-average temperatures.
The back and forth in temps will help bring in better chances for rain, so expect rain this month to be above average. An exception may be western South Dakota with drier than average rain.
