We told you about the new A.I. companion necklace that keeps you company if you don’t have ACTUAL friends.  But a new study found that’s not really the case for most people.

“The American Friendship Project” looked at how many friends the average American has in 2024, and how it compares to 50 years ago.

And even though we’re all overworked and constantly online now, not that much has changed.

The average American has four to five people they consider to be true friends.  That’s pretty much in line with every year since 1970.  Only 2% said they have NO friends, which is also about the same.

One thing we do wish we had more of though is additional TIME with those friends.  Most people said they’re good with the number of friends they have.  But 42% aren’t as close with their friends as they’d like to be.
