Chestnut, Haskins, Small and Johnson are all competing for what could be just one spot. Ideally, whoever lands the spot or spots up for grabs can be a good complement to Spears and Pollard

Chestnut and Haskins should be viewed as the favorites because not only do they have more experience and a history of playing on special teams, they also run with the kind of physical style the Titans should be looking for behind their explosive backs.

Like Chestnut and Haskins, Johnson fits the mold of what the Titans need behind Spears and Pollard thanks to his physical running style. But he’s also a more experienced pass-catcher than either were coming out of college, which will help his cause.

Small can be a physical runner but that isn’t really his game and he’s more like Pollard and Spears. He also lacks experience as a pass-catcher, something that will no doubt hurt him.

Unlike Haskins and Chestnut, Johnson and Small are unknowns on special teams. They’re going to have to show that they can contribute there if they want to make this roster.

We didn’t get much information on any of these players during the offseason program, so it’s hard to gauge if any have managed to stand out above the rest going into training camp.
