The Tennessee Titans have multiple question marks along their offensive line going into 2022, as the team is set to have two new starters upfront following their parting ways with Rodger Saffold and David Quessenberry.
Adding to that, right guard Nate Davis is coming off a lackluster season in which he was OK in run-blocking but was shaky at best in pass protection, posting a Pro Football Focus grade of 49.2 in that area and allowing five sacks, tied for the 11th-most in the NFL.
In his guard rankings for 2022, PFF’s Sam Monson placed Davis in the bottom tier, which was labeled “If an upgrade came along…” None of Tennessee’s left guard candidates made the list.
One of the members of the wildly successful 2019 draft class, Davis has seen an up-and-down start to his career, with his run-blocking mostly shining but his pass protection going in the opposite direction.
Looking back at 2021, some of Davis’ struggles could be attributed to the issues Tennessee had next to him at right tackle, where Quessenberry also struggled in pass protection and allowed the most sacks in the NFL.
It remains to be seen who the Titans will have next to Davis in 2022, but the favorite is 2021 second-round pick, Dillon Radunz, who the jury is still very much out on.
If Davis hopes to land a sizable contract in free agency next offseason from the Titans or another team, he needs to have his best season yet in 2022.
