Going into the 2022 season, only a few teams in the NFL are spending more money on their offense than the Tennessee Titans.
According to Over the Cap, the Titans’ offensive spending comes in at $121.4 million, which ranks as the fourth-highest total in the NFL.
The only teams spending more are the Detroit Lions (No. 1, $123.3 million), Dallas Cowboys (No. 2, $122 million) and Washington Commanders (No. 3, $121.6 million).
Despite all that money spent, Tennessee’s offense produces the team’s biggest question marks going into 2022.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who makes up a large chunk of that $121.4 million with his $38.6 million cap hit, is on the hot seat after a lackluster campaign that saw him struggle with turnovers and ineffectiveness.
The Titans also have concerns at wide receiver and along the offensive line, which will have two new starters. Tennessee’s three-best options for those two spots all lack starting experience.
After Tannehill, the Titans’ biggest cap hits on offense are running back Derrick Henry ($15 million), left tackle Taylor Lewan ($14.6 million) and wide receiver Robert Woods ($10 million).
The good news for the Titans is that their defense is primed to be one of the NFL’s best, but the difference in the Titans simply being a playoff team and one that makes a deep run will depend upon how much the offense improves.
