The Tennessee Titans sported arguably the worst offensive line in the NFL the past two seasons, so it’s no surprise the team invested significant resources in the group in 2024.
On top of signing center Lloyd Cushenberry to a big free-agent deal, the Titans drafted JC Latham to play left tackle with the No. 7 overall pick.
While those are no doubt positive additions, the fact is the Titans still have question marks upfront.
After all, Latham and left guard Peter Skoronski remain unproven, and the Titans still don’t know who will start at the two spots on the right side, and none of their options for those positions are sure things.
Knowing all that, it’s not entirely surprising to see Pro Football Focus’ Zoltan Buday rank Tennessee’s unit at No. 30 in his offensive line rankings going into 2024. Here’s what he wrote:
The Titans fielded arguably the NFL’s worst offensive line in 2023, they can expect improvements in 2024, at least on paper. After taking Peter Skoronski with the 11th overall pick in 2023 to play left guard, Tennessee selected JC Latham out of Alabama with the seventh overall pick this offseason.
The team also signed center Lloyd Cushenberry III in free agency after his breakout 2023 season during which he ranked 10th in PFF overall grade.
The Titans actually finished No. 32 in Buday’s end-of-season rankings, so moving up to No. 30 would be an improvement.
Still, the hope is that Tennessee can make a much bigger leap than that, although as we saw in 2023 when the unit was worse than the putrid 2022 group, there is no guarantee that will happen.
The good news is, the Titans now have an elite offensive line coach to help their cause, both Cushenberry and Latham should be upgrades, and Skoronski looks primed to take a step forward in his second season.
If Skoronski, Cushenberry and Latham can play as well as we expect them to and the two starters on the right side don’t totally stink, this Titans unit will be much better, which would be huge for Will Levis.
