After an off day on Tuesday, the Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field for their 14th session of training camp, which was also the first joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tennessee and Tampa Bay will return to Saint Thomas Sports Park on Thursday for the second and final joint practice. After that, the two teams will square off on Saturday night in preseason Week 2.
After seeing a ton of fireworks with in-practice fights last year, the Titans and Bucs didn’t have any skirmishes on Wednesday; however, it’s important to note the aforementioned fights last year took place on Day 2.
Tennessee saw a few familiar faces at practice, as former Titans and current Bucs Logan Ryan and Julio Jones were both present. Tampa Bay didn’t have Tom Brady or Mike Evans practicing, though.
Now, here’s a look at the biggest takeaways from the first of two joint practices between the Titans and Bucs.

Terry McCormick, Titan Insider: “The rookie QB had some good moments in practice, but got another quarterback life lesson in the two-minute drill. Some of his throws were late as a result of him holding onto the football too long… Though he had no interceptions, he was unable to drive the offense for any points in his two-minute stint. His best pass was an out route to tight end Chig Okonkwo for a first down, but other throws came a bit late and another was dropped by Reggie Roberson.”

McCormick: “Dillon Radunz got all the first-team reps Wednesday at right tackle and the results were mixed. Radunz held his own on several snaps against the Bucs front line, but there were a couple of instances where the Tampa Bay front got the best of him. One on play in the team period, Radunz was pushed back into Tannehill, knocking the Titans quarterback to the ground… Nicholas Petit-Frere, competing with Radunz, took only second-team reps. In the name of fair competition, it is possible that the roles might be reversed on Thursday.”

McCormick: “Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a solid day of work against the Bucs defense on Wednesday. He did have one interception that was snared by Devin White in the second team period. That took place because there was apparent miscommunication between Tannehill and rookie receiver Kyle Philips… Tannehill looked solid in the two-minute drill, directing the Titans offense to field goals (which was the premise of the situation, to get in range for a game-winning kick). On one play in particular, Tannehill scrambled to his left and fired a dart across the middle to Robert Woods… In other drills, Tannehill had a couple of nice throws to Burks, as mentioned above, and also connected twice with Racey McMath, who consistently won in single coverage deep against the Bucs secondary in one-on-ones and the first team period… In the first two-minute drill, Tannehill took what the defense gave, three times connecting with tight end Austin Hooper on the drive.”
