As he and the Tennessee Titans continue to work on a contract extension, wide receiver A.J. Brown was working out with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts recently, per the latter’s Instagram story.

Of course, some will run wild with this and try to connect Brown going to the Eagles, something people ran with earlier this offseason after Hurts asked the Titans wide receiver if he was trying to join him in Philly.

But it’s important to note that the pair are close friends. Also, it appears they were celebrating the birthday of Brown’s daughter.

“I tried to recruit him to Alabama,” Hurts said of Brown back in 2020. “We’ve been very close ever since. He’s one of my best friends.”

The last we heard of Brown’s contract situation came via an Instagram Live video from the stepmom of San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

In the video, Samuel can be overheard in the background talking to Brown on the phone, and Samuel reveals that the Titans offered Brown $20 million per year.

“They [Tennessee] offered him [Brown] $20 million, but they know he can get more but they’re not giving him more,” Samuel said to his stepmom in the video.

We’ve always figured Brown would net anywhere from $22 to $25 million per year in a new contract after the wide receiver market exploded this offseason, but it appears the Titans aren’t willing to go that high for now.

However, there’s plenty of time for things to change, as Brown won’t hit the free-agent market until 2023 and the Titans have repeatedly said they won’t trade him.

Brown is currently sitting out the voluntary portion of the team’s offseason program until he gets a new contract. He recently reacted to fans critical of his decision, and even removed “Tennessee” from his bio after that.

We remain steadfast in our opinion that Brown and the Titans will work something out, and hopefully sooner rather than later.
