TEA, S.D. (KELO) — Two months after a deadly shooting, a Tea man is charged with murdering someone who came to his home.

According to court documents, the victim was a 19-year-old man who was a contractor with a local big box store.

The suspect is 59-year-old Timothy Overton, who is already behind bars for another case involving aggravated assault.

Police responded to the shooting on Carla Avenue, on the north side of Tea, back on June 3rd.

There, police found a man with a gunshot wound.

According to new court documents and a go fund-me-account, the victim was 19-year-old Isaiah Morales.

Morales received medical attention, but ultimately died from his injuries.

During the investigation, police arrested 59-year-old Timothy Overton, for a separate aggravated assault case dating back to April and May.

He’s now charged in connection with the shooting.

The indictment says Overton assaulted Morales with brass knuckles before Overton allegedly shot and killed him.

Overton is also accused of trying to stop a woman from calling for help.

The indictment doesn’t say what led up to the shooting, but another court document does.

A supervisor at a local big box store filed a protection order in Minnehaha County, just days after the crime in Tea.

He claimed Overton has a history of threatening behavior, and on the morning of the shooting, he says Overton had sent a harassing text and email.

The petitioner also identifies the victim of the shooting as a 3rd party vendor employee of the store.

The protection order was approved.

Two months after the crime, Overton is being being held in the Minnehaha County jail without bond.

There’s a GoFundMe set up for Morales’ family.

At this point, there are no court hearings scheduled in the murder case.
