Nintendo games and consoles never get price drops anymore, but they do occasionally get surprisingly decent discounts. Whether to capitalize on the lead up to Amazon Prime Day, or just unload some excess summer inventory, the stars have aligned for some decent Switch deals this week that probably won’t last much longer.
First up is the Animal Crossing-themed Nintendo Switch Lite. Normally $200, the teal handheld which comes with Animal Crossing: New Horizons free and pre-installed is just $159 at Walmart right now. The reveal of the Switch 2 has been predicted for years, and could come as soon as September, but in the meantime the Switch Lite remains a super affordable and convenient way to check out the best games of the last seven years on the go.
Then there is the Super Mario Party Joy-Con bundle. Normally $100, the packaged deal comes with the 2018 game—technically the 11th in the series—and a pair of controllers for just $69 at Walmart. Nintendo also released Mario Party Superstars in 2021 and Super Mario Party Jamboree is coming this fall, though Super Mario Party still has its fans thanks to its character dice.
Physical versions of a few other notable Switch games are on sale right now too, across Walmart and Target (requires free Target Circle signup):
- Super Mario Bros. Wonder: $48 (Walmart)
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: $30 (Walmart)
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: $30 (Walmart)
- Super Mario Maker 2: $40 (Walmart)
- Super Mario Odyssey: $35 (Target)
- Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe: $35 (Target)
- Splatoon 3: $35 (Target)
- Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze: $35 (Target)
- Kirby and the Forgotten Land: $35 (Target)
- Yoshi’s Crafted World: $35 (Target)
Finally, 8BitDo is running a sale on a bunch of its controllers to commemorate the third-party peripheral maker’s 11th anniversary. That includes the $15 off the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller with Hall Effect Joysticks to prevent drift, as well as $5 off the 8BitDo Micro, which is a nice portable gaming travel companion for co-op. Both controllers are compatible with the Switch and other devices. Personally, I love the Hori Split Pad Pro. It’s $8 off right now at Amazon. It’s basically indestructible. Unless you have kids.
