SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It’s Heroes Weekend at the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls. Veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and medical professionals receive half-off admission from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Zoo visitors will also want to check out the new African lion exhibit.

Main Street Days wrap up in Humboldt, SD with live music from 1-5 p.m. featuring Mike Marquardt and Todd Casilli. Bingo starts at 2 p.m.

The Summer Concert Series at Good Earth State Park southeast of Sioux Falls features Tom Watson. The music starts at 4 p.m. A park entrance license is required. Seating is limited so you may want to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets.

The Sioux Falls Municipal Band performs a free concert titled “The Pursuit of Happiness,” featuring patriotic music. The concert takes place at the Terrace Park band shell at 8 p.m.

Also at Terrace Park, professional photographer Jason Pfitzer leads a Guided Photo Walk through the Japanese Gardens. Shutterbugs of all skill levels can learn the fine-points of nature photography from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $35. Bring your own cameras.

American Legion Post 15 in Sioux Falls is hosting an all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast. Serving time is 8:30 a.m. to noon at the South Dakota Military Heritage Alliance. The cost is $8, $2 for children. Donations are also welcome.

The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is hosting an open house at their club building on the north side of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. The free open house runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

First Gold Gaming Resort in Deadwood is hosting a 3-Wheeler Rally. Events include rides, vendors, food, poker runs and a show-n-shine. The rally starts today at 1 p.m. local time and runs through July 12th.

Learn about the historic missions of the USS South Dakota during World War II at the Battleship Memorial Museum in Sioux Falls. The museum, located in Sherman Park, is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through September. Admission is free.

Movies playing at the historic State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls include The Goonies, rated PG, plus Thelma and Dirty Dancing, both rated PG-13.

The Wells Fargo CineDome & Sweetman Planetarium at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls features Wings Over Water, Magic Globe, Experience the Aurora and Cities of the Future.

New movie releases playing at a theater near you include Despicable Me 4, rated PG, Fly Me to the Moon and Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, both rated PG-13 and MaXXXine, rated R.

It’s race night at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD. Gates open at 5 p.m. Hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. The races start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students, free for ages 12 and under.
