WESTFIELD, Ind. — Sun King, an award-winning craft beer brewer from Indianapolis, is expanding into Westfield with plans to create a taproom and food hall near State Road 32 and Union Street.

“Sun King is excited about being a part of the Westfield community,” said Dave Colts of Sun King. “The design of Sun King’s taproom and food hall will offer guests a welcoming indoor space and a stunning outdoor patio and upstairs deck that share picturesque views of Grand Junction Plaza.”

Sun King was announced as the first tenant in the new Union Square development area, located just a few blocks east of the U.S. 31 exit at State Road 32. The new Sun King location was approved on Monday by the City of Westfield’s Advisory Plan Commission.

The taproom and food hall will boast more than 400 seats including a patio overlooking Grand Junction Plaza that will seat 200, allowing guests to sip on award-winning craft beers while enjoying a warm Hoosier summer.

“We are thrilled not just for the Sun King team but also for the residents of Westfield, as they will have an outstanding addition to downtown,” said Westfield Mayor Scott Willis. “We are looking forward to seeing Sun King as an anchor of Union Square and how this will help spur future development.”

Sun King opened in Indianapolis in 2009 and is one of the largest breweries in the state.

Sun King has been awarded more than 50 medals at the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, U.S. Open Beer Championship and the Festival of Wood & Barrel-Aged Beers.
