Street Fighter 6 sales have increased to two million units in just over a month, Capcom has announced.

Street Fighter 6 got off to a strong start with one million sold over launch weekend. Total sales for the Street Fighter franchise now top 50 million.

Capcom said single-player features such as the World Tour story mode and the new Modern Control type were designed to appeal to a broad range of players, and have contributed to Street Fighter 6’s sales success.

IGN’s Street Fighter 6 review returned a 9/10. We said: “Street Fighter 6 is the most feature-rich a Street Fighter has ever been at launch, but even beyond that, its roster of 18 characters is excellent, the new mechanics revitalize the one-on-one fighting formula, and it absolutely nails all of the little things that make for a stellar fighting game.”

Street Fighter 6 still has a long way to go before it tops the sales of Street Fighter 5. That game has shifted over seven million copies in the seven years since its February 2016 release. In May, Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto said the company was aiming for 10 million sales for Street Fighter 6.

Capcom said it aims to drive further sales growth by pushing Street Fighter 6 esports. Street Fighter 6 is set to star at the upcoming Evo tournament, and is the focus of a record $1 million first place prize for the Capcom Pro Tour 2023.

The sales announcement comes alongside a first look at Rashid, a new DLC character for Street Fighter 6 due out July 24 via the $29.99 Year 1 Character Pass. This includes the aforementioned Rashid, AKI, Ed, and Akuma.
