SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) —Good morning KELOLAND! Scattered showers and thunderstorms have developed early this morning west of Sioux Falls. Some of those thunderstorms have turned locally heavy.

Expect more rain in the rain gauge reports in the Huron-Mitchell-Wagner areas the next few hours. The numbers below are the official reports as of 7am.

We’ve seen plenty of lightning as well, illustrated on this picture below from our Wagner LIVE Cam.

Radar trends continue to show locally heavy rain west of Yankton. That line of storms has effectively remained stationary over the past few hours, so be alert to some local run-off issues as well.

Expect a warm and breezy day in between scattered thunderstorms in eastern KELOLAND today. We expect highs mainly in the 80s and lower 90s. A few more scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible tonight and tomorrow with highs once again in the 80s and lower 90s. Strong south winds will also be a story the next couple of days. You’ll notice a better line of thunderstorms moving toward western South Dakota by Tuesday evening.

That round of rain combined with another storm system by the end of the week should help close some of our recent rainfall deficits in KELOLAND. Sioux Falls has been quite dry the past 30 days, but numerous chances of rain are ahead in the forecast.

Temperatures will remain above average the rest of the week.

Here are the details of the forecast.
