Stock up, down after Tennessee Titans’ 27-17 loss to Chargers

Jack Gibbens has been incredible since he was inserted into the starting line-up after the trade of Ernest Jones. Once again, he was all over the field and recorded an incredible 10 solo tackles (25 total) against the physical Chargers offense. His arrow is clearly pointed upward.

Yes, the offensive line as a whole struggled, Leroy Watson was noticeable in almost single-handedly destroying a potential scoring drive by committing three penalties that cost the Titans 25 yards in total. The 49-yard field goal that Nick Folk missed would have been 39-yards without his penalties. A rotational player cannot have that type of negative impact. Unfortunately, he may still be the best option.

Will Levis returned from his shoulder injury and was solid. He went 18-for-23 for 175 yards and two touchdowns and added five carries for 41 yards on the ground. Yes, he took too many sacks and missed a couple of throws, but he looked confident and did not make the huge mistake that plagued him earlier in the season. There is still room for improvement, but he is heading in the right direction.

For a second week in a row, Tyler Boyd was shut out on the stat sheet and this is becoming an issue. Incredibly, he saw his snap count rise this week after being in a more limited capacity during Week 9. He saw 32 snaps on offense and made zero impact. Boyd was brought in to help Callahan implement his offense and give the Titans a reliable slot option. So far, he has not been that guy.

Tyjae Spears finally returned from his hamstring injury and made an impact. His seven carries for 47 yards paced the rushing attack and he chipped in another three receptions for four yards. More importantly, he was able to reduce the workload for Tony Pollard, who entered the game a bit banged up. Spears should see his role increase as the weeks move forward.

Nick Folk has been consistent throughout 2024 and it is hard to see his stock drop. Unfortunately, this week, his stock did fall. Folk missed a 49-yard field goal in the contest that ended his perfect season. Kicking is hard and going perfect on the season is almost unheard of, but with a team struggling to score, the impact of missed kicks is amplified. His stock doesn’t fall much, but it does drop.

Welcome to the NFL Bryce Oliver. While his stat line of two receptions for 23 yards may not look like much, they are a huge first step for Oliver. The undrafted rookie free agent receiver from Youngstown State pulled in his first NFL receptions and showed the abilities that made him a training camp standout. With receivers such as Boyd struggling, the Titans need players to step up, and Oliver is trending that way.

Arden Key appeared to be turning the corner after stringing together some dynamic performances as a pass rusher. That did not continue in this one. Key did account for four total tackles, but he struggled to apply pressure and was basically invisible, just like the Titans pass rush as a whole.
