FISHERS, Ind. — A popular summer festival is back for another year of fun.

The week-long Spark!Fishers Festival is going on right now, and there is still a lot to look forward to in the days ahead.

“It’s good for kids of all ages,” said Brianna Tinker who lives nearby. “We took [the kids] down to the three-year-old up and to the 16-year-old, so it was fun for everyone.”

The celebration officially kicked off Tuesday and continues through the weekend. So far this week the festival has featured live music and entertainment, a drone show, the return of the Spark!Fishers 5K, and the annual car and art show.

“One of my favorite things about Spark!Fishers is that we have all our residents come together,” said Stephanie Perry, the assistant director of community and public relations with the city of Fishers. “[We have] younger residents and residents who have lived here for years. It’s a time to come together with friends and family and celebrate our local organizations, our local nonprofits… You can buy a corndog from the local church at the street fair or see a local athletic team in the parade handing out candy to the kids. We have marching bands. It’s just such a great culmination of the culture of Fishers.”

One of the highlights each year is the live music and entertainment from local bands and musicians. This Friday, it’s all about Taylor Swift.

“[Friday] night is RED, our Taylor Swift tribute band at 8 p.m. here at the Nickel Plate Amphitheater,” Perry said. “ We also have a firework show afterwards. Bring your friendship bracelets and come on out.”

But the main festivities will be underway on Saturday including the annual street fair and the return of the Spark!Fishers parade.

“The street fair from 2-9 p.m. really has things for the whole family,” Perry said. “We are going to have a zipline. We will have inflatables for the kids. Tons of vendors. Tons of great food. Live music throughout the whole thing.”

Some people are traveling to Fishers to celebrate their first Spark!Fishers Festival, including Tege Holt, who is one of the musicians performing this year.

“I just thought it would be a great opportunity, you know, have some fun, and I have heard it’s a blast,” he said. “I am ready to have fun this year”.

People of all ages are looking forward to a weekend full of summer fun and celebrations.

“It’s all free,” Perry said. “Come on out, you don’t have to register. Just come, join us, bring the family, bring your friends, bring your neighbors.”

The fun continues through Saturday night. For more information, click here.
